A Glossary of the dialect words used in this poem.

Blowth : - Blossom ; in flower. "The May is in blowth."

Briton: - The thrift or sea-pink (St Michaels Mount).

Bullies : -  Pebbles.

Croggan : - Limpet shell.

Crow : - A sty, "Pigs crow".

Dinsul : - St. Michael's Mount

Dralyers : - Trailing plants or weeds, more especially the wild convolvulus.

Dumbledory, Dumbledrane : - The Cockchaffer (flying beetle).

Durns : - The frame of a door.

Goosey-gen : - A gwiddgy-gwee ( St Just in Penwith ) 

Gwidgy-gwee - A small black spot or blood blister caused by a pinch or a bruise.

Hagglan : -  The Hawthorn

Hedgyboar :- The Hedgehog.

Hepse : - The bottom leaf of a stable type door, a half door.

Hollensmoks : - The sea campion.

Huggo : - A sea cave, a cavern.

Keggas : - Tall umbelliferous plants.

Lisamoo or Lizzamoo : - The cow-parsnip.

Padgypaow :- A lizard or Newt.

Pillyer : - a hummock or small heathy Knoll like an ant-hil, found in light uncultivated land.

Polan : - A salt water pool.

Quilkin : -  A Frog.

Randigal : - A rigmarole, a nonsensical, unconnected story.

Rare-mouse : - The Bat.

Muryans : - Ants.

Scow or Scaow :-  Th Elder Tree.

Skedgewith :- The Privet.

Teen : - To light.
