The Organisation for those who love Cornwall.

Family History Links

Many members of Cornish groups around the world joined because they were trying to trace their family trees and wanted to gain an insight into Cornish history and culture. Some have  taken their  incidental interest to a more practical level by working closely with other people both in Cornwall and in the wider world as part of the Cornwall OPC Project". This volunteer group  of people from all corners of the globe, transcribe Cornish  Baptism, Marriage, Burial and other records  from microfilmed records with the agreement of the Cornwall Records office. Once the transcripts are completed they are made available online at no charge to anyone researching their Cornish ancestry. Many of us, I am the OPC for Sennen, have found it an enjoyable task in assisting others in tracing their roots.

Many other records have been transcribed to also help make the task easier and The Cornwall Census Project is another initiative to make high quality primary (or near primary) records conveniently and freely available online. This project is run by Kay Hinnrichsen of Australia and Michael McCormick who lives here in Cornwall and once again they brought people together through the internet and disks containing photos of the original census returns, supplied by the Church of the Latter Day Saints, with the agreement of the Cornwall Records Office, were sent out to be transcribed. You can read more about this work and see the transcriptions by going here . Nowhere in Britain can compare with the work that has been done by these two groups in getting free searchable records on line. A true reflection of how the  "Cornish Diaspora" working together with people in Cornwall can achieve so much.

The Old Cornwall movement is not a Family History group, This role is fulfilled in Cornwall by others we have however provided the following list to help those who seek information.
