The society was formed when a meeting was held on Tuesday 18th January 1954 in the Hillside Methodist Sunday School Pentewan. Thirteen people attended and Cyril Evans spoke on the history of Pentewan village and its immediate area. A discussion followed and an Old Cornwall Society was formed, and meetings were to be held on the third Monday of each month. The society colours were adopted at the second meeting of the society on Monday 15th February 1954 and were; GOLD--representing the Pentewan Stone, BLUE ---- representing the sea, and GREEN -- representing the countryside.
